Frequently asked
questions
Do I need to be fit?
No. Krav Maga is about realistic self-defence for everyone. A by-product of the training is that your fitness will improve. It’s also great fun and the class community spirit makes it far easier to stay motivated.
How long will it take to learn?
Krav Maga is designed to be quick to pick up and easy to remember. You will gain useful practical knowledge from your very first lesson.
Is Krav Maga appropriate for kids?
Absolutely. We have a separate youth programme and teach from 9 years upwards. Our instructors are fully qualified to teach age appropriate material. They will not only learn to defend themselves, but will improve their focus and fitness too.
How do I choose a Krav Maga school?
Apart from practical considerations like location, it’s important you choose a school that’s affiliated to one of the major global Krav Maga organisations. We are affiliated to Krav Maga Gobal (KMG) in Netanya, Israel and have the very highest standards of training and ongoing professional development. This is your insurance that the instructor you are training with has not done a crash course in Krav Maga and that you are following a curriculum which has been rigorously designed and monitored.
Are there gradings?
Yes. We have levels with badges not belts. Students can grade, it’s a great way to monitor progress, but it’s not mandatary.
Do I need any kit?
Yes. When you book a foundation course, or take part in any of our ongoing programmes you will need to purchase a uniform, a KMG authorised t-shirt along with black pants. You can buy these from our online store. In addition, protective gear is highly recommended as Krav Maga is a full-contact activity.
Do I need insurance?
Complimentary insurance cover for your first 6 lessons is provided by our governing body. As you progress in training after week 6, we do recommend that you apply for a KMG Training Licence which will then cover you for the remainder of your course, any Krav Maga events you attend and the next courses you go on to do with us. Can I get a refund?
No. We have a 'no refunds' policy as we have to commit to our teachers and venues ahead of time, however students can defer a course (due to illness or injury) to the next available date or term.
